It is all About Control

We all, or at least we all should, know that leftists want to control us. They seek power over the stupid unwashed masses(us), so they can show us how to live properly according to their beliefs. The ironic thing about this, is the fact that they usually charge social conservatives as being the group who wants to put their boot on your neck.

The left wants to do it through government regulation. You see, we all are just not smart enough to handle this freedom thing, so we need to be shown how to do what is right for the collective. Personal freedom isn’t as important as saving us from ourselves.

This reasoning has been used for one hundred years to justify the murder of millions upon millions of people, who just would not fall in line. As I first said in my epiphany, from over a year ago, global warming is the new communism. Please read that post if you have not before. That theory is a tad bit inaccurate though. It is better stated to say that environmentalism is the latest cause du jour of the totalitarian communista hordes.

The left has been very, very successful using environmental totalitarianism to further their goals. We should be very well aware of this. They use the EPA to deny requests to build things we need like nuclear power plants, housing, and oil platforms. All too often their objections are purely political and not based on any real evidence or science.

I must say, that not all environmentalism is wrong. On the contrary. As stewards of the earth, we are responsible for its wellbeing. We ought to preserve the natural world as best we can. Radical environmentalism is of course no good to anyone, except those seeking power.

Global warming is of course the jewel in the crown of the environazi. Their Great Leader Al Gore, is seen as a prophet, and a rock star. They rely on false data, or no data at all in making their claims. No matter how many times their models are refuted, they will always come up with excuses as to why they are correct. We are always on the precipous of disaster. We must act right now or it will be to late.

The goal of all of this, as I stated, is control. They want to control what and how you do things. That want to make it "fair" for all. Of course as the poor Soviets found, "fairness" isn't really the same for everyone. It sucks for the overwhelming majority. Fairness is a gulag, or a work camp in Siberia. That is of course assuming you were lucky enough to actually make it to the gulag, instead of being shot like a dog in the street.

This post was precipitated by this "study" being reported on in the Guardian.

Story

Tara Garnett, the report's author, warned that campaigns encouraging people to change their habits voluntarily were doomed to fail and urged the government to use caps on greenhouse gas emissions and carbon pricing to ensure changes were made. "Food is important to us in a great many cultural and symbolic ways, and our food choices are affected by cost, time, habit and other influences," the report says. "Study upon study has shown that awareness-raising campaigns alone are unlikely to work, particularly when it comes to more difficult changes."

Please read the whole thing.

So now they are ready to get government to force us to change our eating habits! Forget downsizing your house or car, they aim to actually force us to eat how they want us to eat! The article goes on to explain that this is a moderate approach as opposed to outlawing meat-eating altogether. They know that even the rubes would never agree with that. So they want to start with just slowly limiting how much meat we are allowed to have.

Our friend at Ramblings From Oz, has come up with the ultimate unfortunate solution for these fascists. Ultimately force most be counteracted with force.

One last note on this topic today. The radical environuts and the radical PETA types are in this together. They have a mental disorder that makes them think eating animals is wrong. They see animals as better than humans. That is the important distinction we must all realize. They would just as soon see you and your family dead, if it saves the animals from your BBQ pit. All of them think humanity is blight on nature for some reason. It probably has a lot to do with all the liberal guilt they have been taught at the universities for years.

Whites Keeping Black People Down with Global Warming

This has got to be a joke.

Story

Now Global Warming is racist too!

This is yet another hint that this is a political issue and not a scientific one.

Gore Has Completely Lost His Mind

In Father Gore's speech yesterday he said we should commit to generating all our electricity with green energy sources within ten years. A certain senator had the perfect comment for that.

Ridiculous!

I heard yesterday that it would cost about three trillion dollars. I am sure that is just a wild-assed guess, if such a thing would even be possible. Idiot.

Senator Shmuck

“One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday, stressing the need to pass the Democrats’ comprehensive energy package.

Moments later, when asked by a reporter if he really believed global warming caused the fires, he appeared to back away from his comments, saying there are many factors that contributed to the disaster.

Leave it to Dingy Harry to open his mouth without thinking. What a stupid statement. I swear this guy gets dumber every time he opens his mouth. It is almost enough to make one feel sorry for the guy, but not quite.

Additionally, I have heard various Californistan officials blame the fires on Bush and the Iraq War. Let's make sure we don't mention their lunatic fringe environmental policies that make all of our forest lands giant tinder boxes.

Global Fry Monster Hates Polar Bears

I wish I could say this surprises me. It unfortunately does not.

The Story

So our SUVs are going to wipe out all the polar bears who can't hunt on land, but live on land already, and they should be put on the endangered species list, even though they are not endangered. OK, thanks for the heads up scientists!

I knew that this was more of the same omgz you evil Americans are killings the cuddly polar bears canard. Let's revisit this little gem of an article once again.

The Real Story

While it is not shocking that a national UK paper would shill for the global warming slugs, it continues to disappoint me. They could at least include some facts from the opposing viewpoint.

On further review of the original article this made me lol.

Some team members fear the outlook is even bleaker for the bears than their report says.

Boy that is scientific. They think it is even worse, although they have no evidence to support this conclusion. Woohoo! The scientific method at work!
They say the Arctic is warming faster than anywhere in the world and much faster than their computers had been forecasting.

These are the same computer models that they use to come up with their theory to begin with. They sound highly reliable.

Satellite observations have revealed that the ice has shrunk to an all-time low.

It is expected to retreat further this month, raising fears that it has reached a "tipping point" when melting will become irreversible.

Raising fears? Who is actually afraid? What is the evidence of this tipping point?

Dr Mark Serreze, of the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Centre, said: "The ice is in a death spiral. Two years ago I expected the Arctic to lose all its ice by the end of the century. Now I think it will be gone by 2030."

I bet his computer models are reeling with this new insight!

Big Shock!

Carbon credits are largely bullshit. Shocking, I know. The Financial Times has an interesting article about this.

Story

    The FT investigation found:
  • Widespread instances of people and organisations buying worthless credits that do not yield any reductions in carbon emissions.

  • Industrial companies profiting from doing very little – or from gaining carbon credits on the basis of efficiency gains from which they have already benefited substantially.

  • Brokers providing services of questionable or no value.

  • A shortage of verification, making it difficult for buyers to assess the true value of carbon credits.

  • Companies and individuals being charged over the odds for the private purchase of European Union carbon permits that have plummeted in value because they do not result in emissions cuts.

I guess the Goracle's house may not be carbon neutral after all.

One Square Only

Her Excellency Sheryl Crow has decided we should only use one square of asswipe per sitting. This will of course save the world from the Goracle's global frying monster. She does concede that 2 or 3 squares would be OK occasionally, but only if necessary. Personally, I would rather just go commando with my hand, rather than use one square. What is one square gonna do for ya? Is double ply OK for use, or do we have to try to split the layers?

Her and Laurie David are riding a bio-diesel bus across the country to heighten awareness about global warming. Apparently they are blogging as well. This is when Sheryl floated the finger poking through plan. The response so far has been fairly predictable. Most people laugh, and call her names, while others show the typical hypocrisy displayed by the Disciples of the Goracle, by examining her tour bus fleet, etc.

Laurie David penned a gem, when she complained of having to jog in 'forty degree freezing weather' while in Dallas in April. She decided that since it was 70 in January, and 40 in April, global warming was the cause. We Texans chuckle at such fool-speak of course. The cool snap she referred to is actually known as an Easter Snap here in Texas, and has occurred quite often as long as anyone can remember.

UPDATE: I did not realize Laurie David was such a superstar in the Ecoloon community. She apparently produced the Goracle's Powerpoint presentation. Maybe they used the same kind of research in it as she did on her jogging expedition.

This is Some Interesting Math

The Democrats have figured out a way to make a company's product cheaper by increasing their tax burden somehow.

This as usual is just more rubbish generated by the stuffed suits of the commutards. The Washington Times has an excellent story on this subject here.

A gallon of gas costs an average of $2.68 nationally and is rising -- about the same price as last spring when Democrats on the campaign trail vowed to swiftly ease the pain at the pump if elected.

The Democrats went on to win control of Congress, and the House quickly passed a bill to roll back oil subsidies, a measure leaders trumpeted as "a first step toward a future of energy independence." But months may pass before the Senate considers the bill, and analysts predict gas prices could hit $3 per gallon by summer.

This is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. Oil subsidies rollbacks are going to make gas cheaper somehow! It is a miracle! Stifling exploration, and discouraging oil companies to build more refineries, will somehow alleviate the price at the pump. This is so progressive! Those stupid Republicans should have thought about this, it is just so simple.

Instead of doing something, which is not government's place, to make gas cheaper, they actually did the opposite. This should not shock anyone. This is how the Democrats work.

"You have feel-good legislation, but at the end of the day it doesn't really alleviate the burden or change anything right away," said John Townsend, manager of public and government affairs at AAA.

Mr. Townsend said: "Much of what is going on is beyond the control of Congress."

Give this guy a raise. Of course it is beyond the control of Congress. Of course the libtards would not let a fact like that get in the way of their propaganda.

Still, Democratic leaders say their measure can help consumers. The Creating Long-Term Energy Alternatives for the Nation (CLEAN) Act rolls back $14 billion in oil subsidies for some of the largest energy companies, and the money saved would be used to stimulate research and development of alternative energy and fuels.

Great, more money down the rabbit hole. This is actually a bit of a lie. There is no money saved. Government does not make money, it only takes it from the citizenry. Yes, Exxon is made up of American citizens. It isn't just some evil entity bent on breaking the backs of the poor downtrodden SUV drivers on welfare. Much of these subsidies would have never been taken by the companies anyway. This is nothing more than another alternative fuels spending bill. The President has already spent billions on alternative energy technologies. This bill seems to be a repacking of someone elses idea. How shocking.

"We've allowed Exxon's bottom line to take priority over families struggling at the gas pump and the harmful effects of global warming," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, criticizing Republicans who controlled Congress as favoring oil executives over the public and promising change with new leadership. Mr. Reid made that remark in January when introducing his chamber's version of the bill, to be considered some time this year.

I swear that every time I read something Senator Reid says I want to just poke my eyes out. The Religion of the Goracle aside, this bill does not do a damn thing to lower gas prices. Some of the subsidies they repealed could have though.

One more quote from Her Highness for giggles.

"By investing in American ingenuity, Democrats will accelerate the implementation of existing clean, energy-efficient technologies," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California said Jan. 18, when her chamber passed the bill.

Oh how typically Pelosi. The Democrats are doing the investing. This is such a great quote. It illustrates perfectly her disconnection with the people. That is our money, not yours! You aren't investing in anything. We are. As to American ingenuity, all you do is stifle it with your over-regulation, and your labor unions. Her Democrats reference firmly ensconces the truth. She is a partisan hack, just like nearly every other politician in Washington.

Yep

The Czech President agrees with me. I have heard this guy before, and he is right on.

Story

Epiphany

Global Warming is the new communism.

I was thinking about the climate change brouhaha going on in the world and this occurred to me. I did a bit of searching this morning, and of course I am not the first to put two and two together to come up with four. It makes perfect sense really.

The entire debate over whether or not man is affecting the climate is usually framed in the typical leftist fashion. If you do not fall in lock step with their theory, you are automatically painted as some kind of religious fanatic, or simply stupid. This of course is par for the course for leftist debate. Just this morning Bob Beckel on Fox and Friends said that Republicans that would be challenging Al Gore today in Congress are 'members of the flat earth society'. Great Bob. Thanks for the insightful remarks on why The Gore is correct.

This debate ender tactic is widely used when leftists 'debate the issues'. They do things like calling you a racist if you want immigration reform, or a homophobe closet queer if you think marriage should be kept between a man and a woman. It is the de facto 'winning tactic' they use. Sure everyone is guilty of ad hominem attacks at times when the get flustered or just plain mad at someone else. They actually think it is a valid argument somehow.

The reason I am illustrating this often used idiocy is quite simple. They have no argument, so they wish to stifle any meaningful debate by just ending it before they have to actually defend their position.

It is important to note that most people, even leftists, that argue for manmade climate change truly believe it. The media has been claiming it as fact for a decade now, so why wouldn't they? Not every person on the 'we are destroying the planet and are going to die' camp is a communist. It has been painted to be true for so long by so many people, that it is accepted in some places like Europe as being a proven fact, similar to the fact that the sky is blue.

The truth is it isn't that clear. In fact the truth is very unclear. We don't know for sure what is causing the planet to warm, and even if it is really warming beyond a tiny fraction that may very well be a naturally occurring deviation. This is why I believe Global Warming is the new communism.

The pushers of Kyoto are mainly socialists. They want to run our lives so we can save the planet. It will be good for the benefit of all they say. You sacrificing your freedom is worth it to save the children. We must stop the evil capitalists from ruining our home planet. Sound familiar? It should. It is the same kind of rhetoric used by the Bolsheviks, and every other communist bastard for the past 100 years. Loose on the facts, and high on the nanny state utopia rhetoric. As all but the completely daft have realized. Communism failed. It was a non-productive system that was doomed from the start. Things like the Kyoto protocol are a back door attempt at controlling the free people's of the world in an attempt to put us all under control of our supposed intellectual superiors.

The larger goal of control over us is what should concern you. What happens when our enlightened overlords seizes our guns, and then decides we don't need that fancy house when a work encampment would be more fair, and better for the environment?

This is why this debate is so important. Many people are tired of hearing about global warming, because they have correctly seen it is the political chicanery it is. People are rightly sick of this. As my previous post illustrates we want to know the scientific truth.

The dishonest assumption being forced upon us, is in my opinion, a much darker specter, than just another random leftist pet project.

Politics and Science Don't Mix

Story

This is the story of the man that cried wolf, and was then made to look stupid. James Hansen is the director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies. He proclaimed earlier this year that the White House was muzzling him because of his views on global warming.

On the surface this seems plausible, as the White House is not a huge believer that the climate is changing because of our activities. Unfortunately for Hansen, he has been allowed to give 1,400 interviews. That kind of makes his complaint look a bit stupid. It also turns out he has repeatedly violated NASA procedure with regard to interviews.

Mr.. Hansen was a consultant on Al Gore's documentary which has been highly criticized as inaccurate and even been called 'a work of fiction' by other scientists. Throw in the fact that Hansen has contributed thousands of dollars to Democratic campaigns and things start to look a bit fishy. He just happened to receive a huge grant from the Heinz foundation after donating to Kerry's campaign.

Add in some comments about how this country is turning Nazi or Soviet, and you have your typical left wing moonbat nonsense coming out. This screams of political and scientific hackery, and this brings me to the real point of this post.

Global warming, or climate change, or whatever you want to call it is being politicized in a horrible way. It has turned into a religion for many people. There is no way for the average citizen of the planet to get honest reporting of scientific fact. There is to much of a vested interest in proving we are destroying the planet. The non-biased scientific community is being shouted down by the zealots on both sides of the argument.

I am not saying Mr. Hansen is proclaiming the evil's of global warming solely based on his political views, but it sure seems that may play a large role in his decision making.
